Wine Details:
Red Wine: Penfolds Max's Cabernet Sauvignon - Dark red with crimson hues. Enticing aromatics, with exotic fruits of the forest leaping from the glass. On the palate it is dense, long & full with furry, full tannins and supportive oak. Substantial, rich mid-palate supported by savoury dark and red fruits.
Red Wine: Penfolds Bin 128 Shiraz - Deep blackcurrant in appearance. The nose mingles spicy scents like white pepper, black fruit like blueberry, leather, chocolate and garrigue scrub. The tannins are silken, finely woven around the fruit. The acid line is as neat as a pin. Everything is in the right place, a lovely wine now with decades of potential for those who can wait.
Red Wine: Penfolds Bin 138 Barossa Valley Shiraz Grenache Mataro - Purple, crimson rim by appearance. Grenache fruits to the fore. A swirl and a sniff are enough to provide a metaphorical trip to the Arabian spice souk. All three varietals play a complementary role. There is a lovely fruit like flavour profile, not over-ripe in the least. Exotic black and red fruits abound: lingonberries, logan berries, olallieberries, red currants.
Red Wine: One by Penfolds Red Wine Blend 2021 - Designed in partnership with Human Made founder NIGO, One by Penfolds celebrates the idea of ‘oneness’. Medium plum and pink brightness at the rim in colour. A delightfully aromatic nose. Bright raspberry and pouring cream. Lifted lavender and violets are complemented by scents of orange blossom and hibiscus. Baking spices of nutmeg and cinnamon, integrated with pannacotta like creaminess. Forest fruits, blackberry and bramble. Tannins are finely focused. Immediate succulence and very moreish.
White Wine: Penfolds Koonunga Hill Chardonnay - Pale straw in colour. Orange blossom, cashews, toasted brioche, with nuanced nougat/spicy oak. There are subtle hints of gunflint and wet stone. Impeccably balanced, with citrus to the fore, lemon curd and orange zest. Nougat and stone fruits create a creamy texture. Subtle oak provides texture and weight. Soft, round and generous with lovely refreshing acidity.
White Wine: One by Penfolds Chardonnay 2022 - Pale straw with green hues in colour. Summer stone fruits, yellow peach, and white nectarine. Ripe loquats poached in syrup. Japanese persimmon and golden delicious apple add further layers of complexity. Passionfruits emerge, kept in check by lemon/lime citrus notes. The palate delivers on the nose. Packham pear with slices of just-ripe Fuji apples. A hint of frangipani. Honey ice-cream nuances provide palate weight. There is a lovely phenolic grip, with a rich, lingering palate.
